Blogs Wane as the Young Drift to Sites Like Twitter →
This New York Times article describes why I think services like Tumblr have the chance to do very well. Tumblr makes it SO easy to blog that it doesn’t actually feel like blogging. Just looking at my recent Tumblr posts, you see pictures, quotes, music, and long-form (more traditional) text entries. When I am posting the various pictures or quotes or links that I do, I am still contributing to my “online presence”, and it is so easy that I can usually find time to do it. I can then post longer entries when I do have the time or inspiration. I have been reading others point out that more traditional blogging engines like Wordpress are not “waning” at all, but are growing. They may be growing, but I think more simple blogging services like Tumblr are growing even more quickly because of the ease of use they provide.
